Peg Kehret has always loved to write. As a child she wanted to be a writer or a veterinarian. She included animals in most of her books and, although she has retired from writing, she still volunteers with animal rescue groups. She adopted her cat, Lovey, from an animal shelter when Lovey was ten years old. Peg’s books have won more than fifty state young reader awards as well as the PEN Center Award in Children’s Literature, the Golden Kite Award from the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, and the Henry Bergh Award from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA.)
She lives near Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington State.
